Description: An introduction of how contemporary parenting issues currently affect children. An examination of historical antecedents of change in relation to parenting and adult/child relationships of today. Attempts to relate how changes in society and forces impacting on these changes influence child-rearing. Issues addressed will include play, obesity, sleep patterns, family structures, education practices, the sexual acceleration of childhood, and media/technology influence. 18 hours lecture.
