Introduction to Physical ScienceDescription: Fundamental concepts of earth, space, and environmental science (astronomy, geology, meteorology, and oceanography) and principles of physics and chemistry, especially as they relate to these fields. Emphasis is placed on the application of science in the understanding and solution of environmental problems. 54 hours lecture.(Letter grade only)

Weather and ClimateDescription: The nature and causes of common meteorological phenomena, severe weather occurrences, and climatic patterns. Topics include atmospheric structure, solar radiation, and energy balances, atmospheric moisture, clouds and fog, air pressure, wind, air masses, and fronts, cyclones, tornadoes, hurricanes, weather forecasting, climate classification, and climate change. Understanding the human impact on weather and climate is an important thread throughout the course. 54 hours lecture. (Same as GEG-5.) (Letter grade only)
