Description: Theory and practice in the basic techniques of producing black and white photographs with technical and artistic merit. Acquire competency in the use of cameras with an emphasis on understanding the relationship of shutter, aperture and focal length. Acquire competency in the use of photo materials and processes associated with basic darkroom procedures. Students are expected to supply their own 35-mm cameras with aperture and shutter controls, and film and enlarging paper for printing. 36 hours lecture and 54 hours laboratory.
