Description: The goal of this course is to acquaint students with the history and theories of American state and local politics. This course will examine the history of state and local politics in the U.S., with emphasis on California politics. Current political issues such as urban development, fiscal policies, race, gender and class politics, state and local political leaders, civil rights and civil liberties will be discussed. 54 hours lecture. (Letter grade only)
