Assembly Bill 928 and Your Pathway to Transfer
Assembly Bill 928 requires that students who declare a goal of transfer be placed on an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) pathway if one exists at their home college. This initiative aims to increase your success and minimize the number of units needed for completion. If you change your educational goal or program of study after August 1, 2024, you may receive a survey through your college email to clarify your pathway. Be sure to check your email, complete the survey if received, and contact your engagement center or counseling department with any questions.
Exceptions to the ADT mandatory placement include:
- An ADT pathway does not exist in the chosen major at the college.
- The student’s educational pathway is better served by a local associate degree.
- The student plans to apply to transfer to a UC campus or an independent college or university.
- The student is seeking to complete a community college baccalaureate degree program.
- The student is seeking to complete a career technical education program that does not have an ADT pathway.
What is an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT)?
Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADTs) provide a clear pathway for California community college students to obtain California State University (CSU) degrees. Students who earn an ADT are guaranteed admission with junior standing to select CSU campuses and receive priority admission consideration. Those who complete a transfer degree in a major similar to a CSU major can complete the remaining requirements at that CSU within 60 units after transfer. We are committed to helping you successfully continue and complete your education. If you have questions about AB 928 or the email communication you received, RCC has a dedicated team ready to assist you.
We highly recommend that all students have a comprehensive educational plan on file after completion of 15 units. If you need to develop your student educational plan – please schedule a counseling appointment by clicking on Scheduling a Counseling Appointment.
