No, you do not have to take a course at UCR to live in RCC Student Housing on the UCR campus.
No, minors under the age of 18 are not permitted. This is a community designed and built for legal adults and does not have the resources to support the requirements, needs and inherent risks of minors living in a residential capacity. Therefore, our student housing policy requires all student residents to be at least 18 years of age at the time of move-in.
- The student housing is rented by the bed and provides a roommate experience. Minors are not allowed to rent a bed.
- UCR campus housing is designated as single student housing. Married occupants and occupants in a domestic partnership may not occupy rooms, be they shared or unshared with other assigned occupants.
- Children/minor dependents may not reside in the premises and students with children/minor dependents are not eligible for residency in the Apartment.

While it is impossible for anyone to guarantee safety and security anywhere, Housing Services has implemented many programs to help ensure students’ safety and demonstrate our commitment to students’ well-being. Pedestrian traffic is limited in campus housing by student key/card access. Most common areas and passageways are outfitted with security cameras. Emergency-response Blue Phones are located adjacent to housing communities. The university also has a dedicated Police Department and Campus Service Officers (CSO’s) that monitor the campus, including housing properties, in vehicles and on foot. Yes. There are multiple laundry rooms in the UCR campus housing community. Laundry services are paid for through an online app. The app allows the user to find available machines, pay for services, and be notified when their laundry is finished. Follow the directions at the link below to get started. Laundry costs per load are $1.50 to wash and $1.00 to dry. Payments on the app can only be made through credit/debit cards. DIRECTIONS
Financial & Administrative
The cost of rent is still being finalized, but it will cost no more than $1,000 per month. This includes all utilities, WiFi, and furniture.
Although housing is eligible to be covered by financial aid, the amount of coverage is best determined by speaking to a financial aid specialist. Any student receiving financial aid may utilize funds to pay for the cost of housing. (It is important to note that the financial aid process is separate from the student housing process and that each applicant’s financial aid is different.)
No. Student residents from RCC will be subject to the same parking requirements that UCR offers its student residents. Housing parking can be reserved online during a designated timeframe prior to the start of Fall Semester. UCR campus parking requires a fee and is limited. Requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. It is critical that students do not bring a car to campus until they have secured a parking permit.
Common Areas & Guidelines
Yes, Resident Assistants (RAs) are students who will be living in the community. Each RA will be assigned to a certain number of student residents. They are available to enhance the student resident experience, as well as coordinate any emergency/safety protocols and communication.
Pets are not permitted, except fish in an aquarium with a maximum size of 10 gallons. The maximum allowable aquarium gallons per apartment is 40 gallons. Breach of this provision will result in a non-negotiable fee for fumigation services in addition to any appropriate cleaning or repair charges deemed necessary. Keeping a pet is grounds for immediate eviction. Pet prohibitions apply to all mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects, owned or visiting, with the exception of assistance animals approved by RCC and UCR Housing.
Assistance animals, including Service and Emotional Support animals must be registered with RCC-SSD and the ability of UCR Housing to accommodate the animal must be confirmed by UCR Housing prior to bringing any such animal into the community.
Other
Riverside Transit Authority (RTA) provides public transportation to and from RCC and UCR. Students of RCCD are able to ride any route, any time, for free when they present their Student ID card.
